Squaw Creek Hunts Outfitters in southern Iowa is located between Indianola and Osceola. Our deer hunting ground is on a 510 acre farm, with 320 acres of timberland butting up against nearly 200 acres of row crop, and we have three hunting points. The land was opened up for hunting in 2018 for the first time in over 25 years, so it is abundant with deer. Learn more about our hunts.
We are Jim and Judy Jensen, and we own the farm. We have always had a love of farming and working with animals. However, his passion has always been the hunt - whatever type it might be. Jim gained a wealth of hunting experience and knowledge from a Native American hunter friend during his early years on the Minnesota/Iowa border. They often hunted deer, turkey and pheasant. Jim also has a great interest in trapping and likes to share some of his secrets in the Tips & Hints section of our blog.
All hunting dates are available except the 1st season shot gun. Our hunting zone is Squaw 24 section. Licenses are available from the sale date through the end of the season, or until quota fills. A current hunting license and habitat fee is also required. Nonresidents: refer to Nonresident-Hunting.
Each hunt consists of 5 days, starting on Saturday and ending on Wednesday. At Squaw Creek Hunts we provide transportation to and from the hut. Shooting hours for all deer seasons are a half-hour before sunrise to a half-hour after sunset.
NOTE: Additional charges are paid prior to removal. The local game warden will score the buck.
Refunds are not offered unless weather hinders the ride to the blind.
A variety of snacks will be provided at the beginning of each day along with water and coffee. A warm meal is prepared by Judy and placed in a container “to go” consisting of meat, potato, vegetable and dessert.
We do not provide lodging but there are accommodations in the surrounding area. Being close to Des Moines, Indianola and Osceola, there are plenty of things to do and places to stay in the area.
